Critics argue that these initiatives serve as a means to bankroll political activism and fuel societal division rather than addressing tangible issues affecting Michigan residents. 1. University of Michigan’s DEI Bureaucracy
The University of Michigan has significantly expanded its DEI programs, dedicating over $30 million in the 2024 academic year to employ 241 DEI staff members—up from 142 in the previous year.
